Irie Safari is owned and operated by a qualified wetland biologist and offers special ecology field trips to schools at all levels to either begin the process of appreciation for the environment or the engage in practical exercises to assist in curriculum requirements or club activities. These tours are specially designed for the needs and educational levels of the student groups and special rates apply.
Irie Safari offers a kayak tour deep into pristine clear waterways in the Black River Lower morass far from the regular routes travelled by motorized boats and those ares frequented by the crocodile. These rivers and streams are freshwater and not liked by the salt water loving reptile.
The regular safari tour on the Black and Broad rivers uses comfortable and safe pontoon boats to take our guest on a fifty minute long cruise to see the birds, plants and crocodiles that make this stretch of river in the lower morass so exciting. The unusually docile member of the crocodilian species Crocodylus acutus or American croc makes the lower reaches of these rivers their home as they prefer the brackish water.
