These tours are specially designed for the needs and educational levels of the student groups and special rates apply.
For the avid bird watcher Irie Safari offers bird spotting tours by appointment. We take our guests in the early mornings starting at 6:30 am or at dusk 4:00pm (short days) or 5:00pm on summer days to remote areas on the Black River and its tributaries.
Irie Safari offers a kayak tour deep into pristine clear waterways in the Black River Lower morass far from the regular routes travelled by motorized boats and those ares frequented by the crocodile. These rivers and streams are freshwater and not liked by the salt water loving reptile.
Irie Safari presents our latest adventure tour....Swamp Buggy's. It's a "one of a kind" ATV adventure unique to Jamaica which takes the intrepid visitor to Black River on a seventy five minute long trek through wetland bogs, across rivers, and into tropical jungle.
This sixty five minute long tour gives the guest not only the river scenery but a close up of a tropical jungle filled with exotic plants some of which are found only on the island of Jamaica. Guests get an opportunity to see the American specie of crocodile in its natural habitat and experience a quiet relaxing trip deep into the river system of the lower morass seeing many of the plants and animals that make this freshwater marsh.
The regular safari tour on the Black and Broad rivers uses comfortable and safe pontoon boats to take our guest on a fifty minute long cruise to see the birds, plants and crocodiles that make this stretch of river in the lower morass so exciting. The unusually docile member of the crocodilian species Crocodylus acutus or American croc makes the lower reaches of these rivers their home as they prefer the brackish water.
